Breast Cancer in Older Women

Breast cancer remains the most common cause of death for women in Western countries. Interestingly, as the population ages this will have a proportional increase in the number of patients diagnosed with breast cancer. The increasing age, therefore, remains the greatest risk factor for the development of the disease. Numerous studies have shown that 45% of patients with breast cancer are older than 65 years of age and about 35% are older than 70 years.
